The Argyllshire Gathering Trust (SC050614), a registered charity, are looking for a motivated, imaginative and competent event organiser, who along with an established and keen team of volunteers will oversee the organisation of the Argyllshire Gathering Trust Oban Games. The ideal candidate will ensure a successful and cost-effective event, paying attention to budget and time constraints, while adhering to the aim of our charity.
We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate who can bring fresh ideas to the table, while keeping the traditional and historical aspects of a Highland Games, who understands marketing and promotion techniques, and has high level organisation and communication skills.
The part-time role attracts generous remuneration, and the hours are flexible with the majority of the work being between March and September. The successful candidate will report to the Games Steward/Director.
• Plan event from start to finish according to set requirements, target audience and charitable objectives.
• Come up with suggestions to enhance the event’s success.
• Assist with the budget preparations and ensure targets are met, including grant fund applications and claim reports required.
• Source vendors and suppliers for the event and supervise all service providers.
• Organise and manage a team of volunteers to assist with the event, including manging a team for site set up.
• Coordinate all operations.
• Lead promotional activities for the event, including advertising and souvenir programme.
• Approve all aspects before the day of the event.
• Comply with health and safety legislation and apply for all relevant licenses and permits required.
• Be available the week of the event to ensure the smooth running and resolve any problems that may arise.
• Prepare any post event reports required.
