Argyll's past, present... and future in the Heritage Tent

HERITAGE TENT

Visit the Heritage Tent, sponsored by The Oban Times, to gain an insight into Argyll's past, present... and future.

Come and meet representatives from local organisations, all eager to welcome visitors and share their knowledge and enthusiasm. Find out more about Argyll's natural history - our abundant marine environment, diverse wildlife and conservation initiatives.

Talk to enthusiasts about our historical & heritage sites - museums, castles and ancient archaeological monuments. Meet local groups dedicated to preserving our heritage & culture and taking it forward for future generations.

There are four words in the Gaelic language which perfectly describe our Heritage Tent:

DUALCHAS - our acute Highland sense of tradition, history, culture and heritage
DUTHCHAS - our very vivid sense of place
CEOL - our love of music
CAINNT - the drama of our language

Step inside and experience the many strands that make up Argyll's rich local heritage. Entry to the Heritage Tent is free. Fàilte.

GETTING HERE

The best way to get to the Games is by public transport - it's just a 10 minute walk from Station Square in the centre of Oban where trains, buses and ferries terminate (check times on Traveline Scotland). See our Games info page for full directions.

To arrive in true style, you are welcome to join a pipe band march from Station Square to the Games. The Competing Pipers March leaves the Square at 10:30am, the later march led by Oban High School Pipe Band leaves at 12 noon.
