A great family day out

Oban Games is a fun-filled family day out. Take up position around the field or on the hill with a blanket and a picnic and watch this colourful Highland spectacle. Enjoy listening to the Pipe Bands as they march around the arena, watch the dancers perform their intricate Highland dance steps, cheer on the athletes in the running races, long jump and strenuous hill race. Admire the strength and stamina of the 'Heavies' as cabers and stones are tossed and have a right good giggle as the Tug o' War is battled out.

Other Games attractions popular with youngsters are a bouncy castle, the birds of prey stand and the wildlife & history displays in the Heritage Tent. The Tent - at the far end of the field - is open for everyone to come in and find out more about Argyll's rich heritage and see history come to life.

Look out for the Fun Races throughout the day - with races for children of all ages, veterans - that's you Gran & Grandpa - and the very popular kilted race. Tossing the Sheaf is also a highlight for the teenagers in your family. Sign up on the day and give it a go!
