A normal HTML website will not pass data from one page to another. This makes it a problem for us to track if someone is a bona fide user (ie they have successfully logged in) and then which competitor is adding or updating information. We need data (such as the Competitor Identity) to be remembered from one page to the next.

A PHP session solves this problem by allowing us to store user information on the server for later use (i.e. username, competition, etc). This session information is temporary and is usually deleted very quickly after the user has left the website.

We use Cookies sparingly and you can probably use the site without having cookies enabled.
